Memories of Islamabad

by Chocoholic @ 2007-01-04 - 00:02:52

The music or the tune to the whole trip, comprising two days to be precise, was provided by Hurt, Alice in Chains and Smashing Pumpkins. Listening to good music in the sexy, crisp winter cold, driving in Abu's comfortable car with the windows so foggy I wrote lyrics on them all the while (*sighs*) was somewhat memorable. Fawad also made a valuable contribution by crooning Vital Signs Aitebaar Bhee (if I had a hundred rupee note for every time I've mentioned the guy in my blog lol!). Anywho. It wasn't THAT bad afterall, dreading it and at the same time looking forward to it that I was. The baby was cute, as babies are, you know the "Awww jaanu" feeling they ignite, and then they grow up. But just as we were about to set out for Lahore he was rushed to the hospital with jaundice, nothing serious thank God, the usual baby ailment but you know how it is...Other than that ate Mama's Icecream from Captain Cook's which brought to mind how all the guys tend to mispronounce Hobnob's Mama's Pouteens as joke which makes it sound like something really disgusting even though it is one of my favourite dishes there. Also devoured a whole box of SCRUMPTIOUS, AMAZINGLY DIVINE Lindt Chocolates which were originally supposed to be for my sister and my brother-in-law but unlucky them I guess. The drive to Islamabad and the drive back to Lahore was fun too. The former was done in three hours as the Motorway was almost completely empty and my dad was driving well above the 120 km/h speed limit and slowing down each time we spotted a disinterested patrol car. The latter took a bit longer but the music filled up the space and also Rafey was with us on the way back, although he doesn't talk much even when we see each other in university everyday, but this time around we went over each and every course we'd taken and discussed what I'm majoring in and the instructers in LUMS etc. One of my cousins I sometimes really appreciate as a person. Quiet but makes sense when he does talk. The toll plaza was crowded like anything this time around as everyone was returning from or going back to Isloo after the Eid holidays. Reached home and served food and tea, like a proper adult (ha!) to Abu and Rafey. Will have to keep doing that until Abu leaves and Amma comes back. I'll be sort of alone for the first time ever after Abu leaves although JB's wife will be with me but without adult supervision, it will be the first. Not that I do anything much but it will just be an experience I can add to my kitty.
BUSY day tomorrow Komi, Mariam and Rooj are coming over before they leave for India and that will keep me and Z busy. Neck hurts, hands are freezing and the quilt beckons.
